Krug , 1988

Vintage Champagne in presentation Box

*** 95 Points - eRobertParker ***
*** 95 Points - Wine Journal ***

Reviews: "An outstanding vintage which was declared by only 11 shippers. Fine, attractive wines.

The wine has been fully mature for many years, but well cellared, the best wines will last for many more. Exquisite vintage ports, elegant and delicate." Lisa Perrotti Brown, eRobert Parker.

"One the great modern-day Krug vintages, the 1988 does not disappoint. Ordered off the hotel list in Zurich, it has a deep greeny/gold allure, the bouquet honeyed and rich with touches of hazelnut and a touch of almond with brilliant definition.

Montepulciano, 1988

d'Abruzzo, Miglianico

Montepulciano is a red wine grape variety grown widely in central Italy, most notably its eastern Abruzzo, Marche and Molise regions. The variety was named after the Tuscan parish of Montepulciano, but, confusingly, is not used in the famous wines produced there (see Vino Nobile di Montepulciano). Globally appreciated for their soft flavors, strong color and gentle tannins, Montepulciano wines are typically best consumed in their youth and with food. The deep-purple juice of Montepulciano grapes is used in varying proportions to produce wines under roughly 50 of Italy's DOC and DOCG titles. Although sometimes used on its own,

Spanna, 1988

Umberto Fiore

Spanna has often been cited by wine experts as one of Italy’s greatest ageing wines. Spanna’s longevity can be attributed, at least in part, to the addition of smaller amounts of less tannic, more acidic grape varieties. Tasting notes: The nose opens up beautifully after about an hour and the wine has gorgeous ripe and sweet fruit, nice acidity, and perfectly softened tannins.

Taittinger , 1988

Vintage Champagne Imai

Amongst Champagne's luxury cuveés and super-premium labels, Taittinger's wines live on one extreme end of the style spectrum.
While many top Champagnes can be quite difficult to approach in their youth, with laser-like focus and delineation, even austerity, Taittinger instead tends to be immediately open and welcoming. These are beautiful, delicious Champagnes, with bubbles lazily winding their way up to the surface, inviting you to take another sip.

Tignanello, 1988

Antinori
Magnum Bottle (1.5 Lt)

Antinori's Tignanello, one of the first proprietary red Tuscan table wines, is gorgeous in 1988. The color is deep ruby/purple and the nose offers up penetrating aromas of sweet red and black fruits and toasty new oak. In the mouth, this medium to full-bodied wine offers wonderfully precise flavors, excellent richness, good acidity, soft tannins, and a spicy, long, rich finish. Robert Parker Wine Advocate 1992.

The Tignanello website proclaims.. "If you could see the vineyards of Chianti Classico from space, I’m sure the Tignanello vineyard would be the easiest to spot. Each row has been painstakingly covered with bright white stones along the entire length of each trellis line.
